Antique French Mahogany Commode Chest of Drawers (circa 1860)
This is a very fine quality French chest of drawers constructed in the Louis Philippe period.
Sitting on top is the free-standing 18 mm thick beautiful variegated grey and white marble with a moulded outer edge.
The chest has five drawers all constructed in oak with the top and bottom drawer concealed. The inside of the top drawer is divided into three sections. The four top drawers all have working lever locks and key.
The fronts of the drawers are all veneered in a stunning flame mahogany with the top drawer decorated with carved floral leaf decoration and raised fine mouldings.
Flanking each side are turned and carved decorative corners running the full length of the chest. The flame mahogany continues to both sides in a book-matched design.
The chest stands on moulded front feet and block feet to the rear.
The chest has been checked over in our workshop where it has been cleaned and re-waxed. The piece is in excellent condition.
