Antique French Washstand with Mirror
Originating from South West France this washstand retains its original swivelling mirror supported on turned uprights.
The variegated white marble top is encased in the wooden surrounds to three sides. Below is a full-width drawer with a shaped frieze and veneered to the front in book-matched walnut. The drawer is opened with wooden drawer pulls.
The turned tapering front legs lead down to a recessed full-width shelf below.
Flanking both sides are turned towels rails.
The wood is a dark stained beech finished with a traditional polish and wax.
The mirror plate gives a gentle ripple affect reflection and it has a little foxing (see photographs).
Overall it is in very good condition with only minor wear consistent with age.
The marble has some old repairs that have been checked and are stable and hardly noticeable.
