A very attractive solidly built French Walnut Chest of Drawers / Commode comprising of a 1" thick free-standing variegated black and white marble top with a moulded outer edge. The marble sits on top of five drawers with decorative escutcheons portraying dragons. There is a key supplied with all locks in working order. The hidden bottom drawer is built into the base with a flowing moulded edge.
The exterior of the whole chest (show-wood) is built in solid walnut, which has attained a beautiful mellow rich colouring and patina during its life. It retains its original polished surface, which has been cleaned and re-waxed.
There are a few natural shrinkage lines to the side panels, which are common with a solid wood construction. There was also minor signs of historic (old) worm that has been fully treated.
