Bonheur Du Jour Cylinder Desk Louis XVI Style

This beautifully crafted Bonheur Du Jour Cylinder Desk in mahogany is in the style of Paul Sormani, a renowned cabinet-maker, who operated in Paris between 1817 - 1866. His work was highly recognised due to his attention to detail, fine quality and creativity.

The piece features profuse brass inlay and a rolling tambour desk top.

On opening the full-width drawer with working lock and key the tambour recedes into the base of the desk. The inclined slope can then be opened to reveal a green felt writing surface and a beautifully made satinwood interior.

There are three drawers with mahogany stringing lined fronts and finely turned brass drawer pulls.

The desk sits on turned tapered legs and gadrooned decoration and fine brass feet / sabots.

An exquisite example of design and quality workmanship, this item is in excellent condition, ready to place in the home.
