An exceptionally well-made French Sellette Torchere Stand in mahogany topped with a veined red marble surrounded by a pierced brass gallery.
 
Below the top is a pull-out slide and contained within the frieze is a secret oak lined drawer, released by a concealed button on the base.
 
The slightly splayed tappering legs are joined together by upswept stretchers holding a brass finial decorated with acanthus leaves. There are further brass mounts inlaid into the stretchers, feet and around the frieze.
 
This piece has been made by a first-class cabinet maker and is sold in showroom condition.
