A rare and pretty decorative musical chair with a carved back splat in the style of a hall chair. The back splat is carved in a shield shape with edelweiss flower motifs and is surrounded by C scrolls. 
 
The seat is carved with edelweiss, which also houses a melodic two-tone Swiss musical movement. The movement is wound underneath the seat and the lever on the side seat rail selects either tune. It has a striking resonating tone.
 
The chair sits on carved cabriole legs and its origin is either Swiss or Austrian.
 
This is principally a decorative piece as a opposed to a chair.
